I didn’t want to call this lilac because of the lilac flower but then I realised that all names for this hue are actually flower names: lilac, violet, lavender, even mauve. This particular lilac coloured flower is undeservedly called brown knapweed.

The Chinese stachyurus is called Japanese stachyurus in Germany, which is wrong because it occurs naturally in China and Taiwan. But I guess it was named at a time when everything further than a couple of hundred kilometres was considered far, and everything in Asia lumped together as exotic.

The almond blooming season has started. They were difficult to photograph because the wind was blowing so hard that they swayed to and fro.
