I just learned that the special aerodynamic form of a maple seed is called monopteros. I am thorougly puzzled as I only know the monopteros in the English Garden in Munich, a rather imposing structure on a small hill, “a circular colonnade supporting a roof but without any walls”.
But at present, I only have maple monopterosses (monopteri?) to present:
