While the big whale isn’t strictly speaking a mural but a sculpture on Roker Beach in Sunderland, the techniques – painting on concrete – are the same.

The mural might be wishful thinking considering the building on which it is painted:

This is from Lorsch, Germany, and it is, of course, a Monday Mural. More murals can be found here.

These huts are housing amenities at a new playground in Mörlenbach, Germany. Perfectly appropriate to brighten the site, I think.

And I could have used this for Travel with Intent‘s theme of the week: multicoloured.

These two are quite famous in Germany and are credited to be the predecessors to modern cartoons. They are the creation of writer and artist Wilhelm Busch. Even if you don’t speak German have a look at the book.
A pharmacy in Bad Homburg, a town near Frankfurt, Germany, has taken their name and their adorned its premises with their likeness.

For once, I found a mural with a signature – Christian Schopp (but no additional information on the artist, except for his mobile phone no. in the corner ). This is on the side of a newspaper kiosk in Bad Homburg, where magazines, tobacco, and lottery tickets are sold.

These murals are on two separate block of flats, marking the corner of a parking area. They are created in the same mosaic style but one is a framed panel of about 5 by 2 metres, whereas the other one covers the whole side of a two storeyed house. (Darmstadt, Hessen, Germany)

I can make out the words “IN THE DIRECTION OF THE WIND” and “IN RICHTUNG DES WINDES” and I think I can see the name “JANA” but not a last name. The mural is on the campus of the university of Lüneburg, Germany.

I found this fun guy in a pedestrian underpass in Lüneburg, Germany. He was the only worthwhile creature on an ugly, smeared wall full of tags and badly written slogans.

A bit later I met him again, this time on a distribution box. I’m sure if I had had more time to spend I would have seen him even more often.

From the same town a simple quote – “Let your dreams outlast the night.” As long as they are not nightmares …

This storefront is from Schwetzingen, a small town in the southwest of Germany. The shop is selling paints, fabric, and carpeting.

These murals are from a playground. They were created by youngsters, aged 15-17, from the local community and their twinned town in France (Hemsbach / Bray-sur-Seine), under the guidance of two artists, Motz Tietze and William Noblet.
