Kalter Herrgott

This wayside shrine is called Kalter Herrgott (Cold Lord). It is found near the village of Ritschweier in the Odenwald, Germany, on the brow of a hill where cold winds blow.

The barren looks of the fields after the harvest point towards the autumn

even though it is still hot.

With the wind blowing over the stubbles, autumn isn’t far away anymore:

Wenn der Wind über die Stoppelfelder weht, ist der Herbst nicht mehr fern.

Bahnhof Ffm — This eagle sits on top of the Frankfurt station.

59 sculpture 2 — I found this horse in a park in the city of Lüneburg.

59 sculpture 1 — And I couldn’t leave without sharing this half-submerged hippo from the Heidelberg Zoo.

You might have heard that Germany is in the grip of a drought and fields are brown and yellow. Water needs to be moved to them, or in this case shot with travelling sprinklers.

The theme for Cee’s Black & White Photo Challenge this week is birds. I’ve decided to go with selective colour although in the last picture of the Canada goose it was difficult to find any colour in the animal itself.
