Night Sky

We went out with our grandson this week to catch a glimpse of Tsuchinshan-Atlas. He of the unpronounceable name is a comet, the third brightest in the last 100 years I read. Unfortunately it was cloudy towards the west where it is to be seen (next to the evening star, Venus). But we turned around (and drove a couple of kilometers to get to the other side of the hill we where standing upon) and got to see the supermoon. This phenomenon appears when the moon is the closest to the earth with about 356,500 km. Since this is Weekend Sky I’m showing the moon in the sky including clouds but I will show a moon-centred photo tomorrow.

I find it amazing that anything that far away can be seen by me and photographed on my rather simple bridge camera.
