The Seven Swabians is a tale found in the collection of fairytales by the Brothers Grimm. Although grouped with fairytales, it is rather a droll story about seven not very bright, not very brave Swabians and their adventures – like fighting a hare which they mistake for a monster.

Susan and Gerry from Weekly Prompts offered the prompt “leaves” for this weeks Wednesday Challenge. It’s autumn and leaves (as in: the plural of leaf) is an obvious choice. I thought about it, obviously, but I thought the competition would be fierce so I’d rather offer a take on an old joke.
A panda walks into a café. He orders a sandwich, eats it, then draws a gun and fires two shots in the air.
"Why?" asks the confused waiter, as the panda makes towards the exit. The panda produces a badly punctuated wildlife manual and tosses it over his shoulder.
"I'm a panda," he says at the door. "Look it up."
The waiter turns to the relevant entry in the manual and, sure enough, finds an explanation.
"Panda. Large black-and-white bear-like mammal, native to China. Eats, shoots and leaves."
