Purple Tears

I think it pisses God off if you walk by the color purple in a field somewhere and don’t notice it.

Alice Walker, The Colour Purple

Adults should not weep, I knew. They did not have mothers who would comfort them.

Wednesday Quotes

So Catty

Yes, I enjoy a salad.

Henry our Cat

Yes, well, maybe I should be listening to somebody else instead:

“Anyone who believes what a cat tells him deserves all he gets.”

What Will the Future Hold?

“No one was badly hurt by the fire, but it went on for some hours, doing a fair amount of damage in the process.”

Writer’s Quotes Wednesdays

Wow, Indeed!

“There’s one thing you can say for air pollution, you get utterly amazing sunrises.”

Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman – Good Omens

And I guess that goes for sunsets, too.

Hand me that whatchamacallit!

If you read Good Omens by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman you will know that there was a Sir Joshua Device, a Sir Humphrey Gadget, a Pietr Gizmo, a Cyrus T. Doodad and an Ella Reader Widget – they all invented “things so simple and universally useful that everyone forgot that they’d ever actually needed to be invented” and the utensils were named after them. I’m pretty sure that one of the thingies in my photos has been invented by Angus Watchamacallit, a Scottish inventor of (forgotten) renown.
