I checked the dictionary where “vorglühen” is variously translated as pre-gaming, pre-drinking, pre-partying. However, this sign would have the opposite effect on me.
One Word Sunday asked for abstinence. More photos related to the concept are here.

Leftovers from my cake decorating adventure.

The One Word Sunday challenge asked for shape. It’s so drab outside I wanted to look at some colour – and tulips have a very distinguishable shape, too.

… when I go round on a Ferris wheel (poem by Ava Courtney).
Looking out from the top of Neustadt an der Weinstraße towards the Pfälzer Wald (Palatinate Forest) in southwest Germany.

And looking down.

And looking over to the station, past some more adventurous revellers.
One Word Sunday‘s theme was elevation.

I see this window sill regularly from the school parking lot where I teach. Occasionally, the ashtray is emptied, then it gets filled again. Occasionally, the strainer is a different colour. But the pot always seem to stay the same. I wonder what’s in it.
One Word Sunday from the Travel with Intent blog was asking for potty pictures. More of these can be found here.
The water in our local, man-made lake is filtered with these contraptions called “pelicans”. They are cleaning the water. Cleaning them is necessary on a regular basis, even in the cold season.

This is the “tobacco fountain” in Lorsch, Germany. Tobacco was cultivated in the area since the late 17th century; in 1949 2000 people worked in the tobacco industry (out of a population of 6000) but after the second world war it declined rapidly and the last factory closed in 1993. The fountain shows a worker threading tobacco leaves so they could be hung up to dry. Contrasting her busy work are a child and cat, both busy playing with marbles, while the modern day tourists in the background are busy relaxing.
This is for One Word Sunday, the word being – surprise! – busy. More contributions can be found here.

Not just wishing upon a star but this particular star. It was a gift from someone special and sometimes I wish I could go back.

When we still had a count in our town he lived with his family in this castle. Today it is used for the offices of the town council. My dad used to work in one of the offices and when I visited him as a little girl I loved to walk up the flight of steps, counting each one, past two naked ladies in black marble, and imagine myself a young revolutionary charged with numerous counts of rebellion.
This is for One Word Sunday with the topic “count“. More counts can be found here.
