When It Should Be but Isn’t Really
Ephemera, that is.
We purchased these tickets almost two years ago. My husband and I really enjoy the skits of Foil Arms and Hogg so very soon after having seen them in Frankfurt in late 2024 I purchased the tickets for February 2025 for their new show. I commented that I hoped that we still remembered the date almost 12 months later as we were not getting any younger. January this year came and anticipation grew. Less than a week before the show was cancelled and we received the option of either getting our money back or getting tickets to their next show in Frankfurt. We opted for the next show. It’s planned for late February 2026.
I had hoped to throw the tickets away after a funny and rewarding night out. I’m still holding on to them. Maybe they will be part of the inheritance to our sons in years to come.
Is It a Mountain or a Hill?
German Wikipedia calls Melibokus a mountain, English speaking Wikipedia calls it a hill. Melibokus has an altitude of 517m and is the highest elevation in the Bergstraße region of southern Hesse, i.e. it’s the closes thing we have to a mountain around here.
The Wolf Has Returned
Wolves are occasionally spotted once again in Germany. It’s a contentious topic. One side is worried about their lifestock or even about children and people walking in the woods, the other side is rejoicing about the reappearance of a species once extinct in Germany.

If we ever need a stand in for our resident house tiger I’ll go back to Sardinia and fetch him.

The sign carries a dire warning: Don’t go out on the ice! Deadly Peril!
The reality: The pond is less than 50cm at its deepest point. It’s probably not the wisest of actions to go out on the ice, particularly since we have seldom more than a three day spell with temperatures below freezing.
