Demolition of a Colossus

The huge beast advanced towards its stricken opponent. Resistance was no longer an option. The behemoth opened its monstrous jaws and started ripping pieces of calcified flesh out of the now lifeless, giant carcass.

The Ragtag Daily Prompt: Behemoth.

Mousepad

For once, this butterfly let me take pictures without fluttering away.

And then it showed me its wings in all their glory.

And this has been my mousepad motive for the last couple of years

The Ragtag Daily Prompt: Butterfly.

A Thing of the Past

at least, hopefully, for this year.

Thought I quickly sneak in a last snow picture with this prompt. I like its fixed dimensions, behind the forest the season has already changed.

The Ragtag Daily Prompt: Blanket.

It gets dark

when you drive in – at least when the old German “Gstanzl” or “Schnadahüpfel” (a fun song with many verses, often in dialect) is to be believed:

Zwische Woinem und Bergene
do schteiht e Tunnell, wø mer noifährt,
werd's dunkel,
wø mer nausfährt, werd's hell!
Holladihi-a holladiho! Holladihopsasa holladiho!

The Ragtag Daily Prompt: Tunnel.

Philippsburg Nuclear Power Station, finally decommissioned in 2019

We all need power. Hence there are power stations. This particular one – a bare 40km as the crow flies from where I live – is a nuclear one. It’s more than half an hour’s drive away, on clear days it kind of looms on the horizon but I had given it little thought until the earthquake and tsunami and consequent radiation at Fukushima happened.

The Ragtag Daily Prompt: Yard.

For a more traditional understanding of the word yard, you can also look at my One Word Sunday contribution from today. It is, however, just as ugly (if not as dangerous).
