When the nobles want a simple life in the country

It might not be the largest baroque palace in Germany but it looks impressive even in winter with the capped tree skeletons in front. Particularly the palace gardens are wonderful. Apparently the buildings were originally painted in a yellow colour offset with white elements. I don’t know when the pinkish/salmon colour came in but I think it works very well – in fact, it looks splendiferous!

Growing junk

The rules for bulk waste differ from area to area in Germany but one thing they have all in common whether there are certain collection dates for everybody, usually twice a year, or whether you have to make an individualised date – the mountain of junk grows within minutes of the first old chair appearing.

Pippin!

I really really really wanted to show a peregrin falcon and I spent a considerable part of my afternoon looking for … procrastinating looking for one in my archive. This involved identifying every bird of prey photographed in the wild, even the ones that ended up as small specks in the sky. Unfortunately, common buzzards, kestrels, sparrow hawks, and common hawks turned up but no peregrin falcon.

So here instead, three of these four books have a Peregrin in them. A notable Peregrin actually. A Took. A Fool of a Took.

I hope I have used enough peregrination to peregrinate this post of mine.
