An Untimely Warning

The sign carries a dire warning: Don’t go out on the ice! Deadly Peril!

The reality: The pond is less than 50cm at its deepest point. It’s probably not the wisest of actions to go out on the ice, particularly since we have seldom more than a three day spell with temperatures below freezing.

“Did you hear?” “No, what?!” “They’re said to change the our kernel brand.” “And about time!” “But I like the one we are getting now.” “I think I like more cranberries with it!” “I agree!” “Don’t be ridiculous. If anything it needs sunflower seeds.” “More cowbells. Definitely more cowbells.” “You never take anything serious!” “You think?”

Endless twitter.

Maybe, Maybe not

From the First (rhymes with years+t) to the Große Scheidegg is the Murmeltiertalpfad, the marmot trail. When we walked this trail we heard lots of marmots whistling. We saw a few rushing shadows in the distance which might have been marmots. So there is possibly a marmot in the photo. Maybe not.

Lanose is the prompt that Brian teased us with. Who else but an Aussie would come up with a word like that? But be honest now: who of you knew that word? Since a variation of “wool” is actually our family’s surname I thought to go back to a simpsonized version of us, the core four. The son on the bottom right actually had the nickname “Wet, Wild and Wooly”. Very lanate and full of lanosity.

I used to sew a bit. Clothes for me before I had children, household stuff (curtains, cushions, throws, table coths, etc.) once I had less time and boys who didn’t really share mum’s taste in clothes. But I kept left-over fabric. I also still bought fabric occasionally with ideas of projects but it’s been in boxes ever since.

Until last week, when I faced the facts. My sewing days are over (except for the odd repair). I piled it all up and I offered it to whomever was interested on our neighbourhood social media.
