Expectation feeds frustration

No, for once not COVID related. This is a photo from 2016. I had planned an outing to these castle grounds and ended up in front of the gate reading “closed” – very frustrating. I’ve never found out why the park wasn’t open. I’ve been back since and could go in.

The lure of darkness

I’ve used this image before but it seemed so perfect to illustrate “illusion” that I thought I add something extra and reversed it.

It was part of a night light show in a park and it was a one-dimensional exhibit. But wouldn’t you just love to step right in and walk around that corner?

Coal for heating

I know it’s not quite charcoal but the mind sometimes goes where it will.

When coal and oil was still delivered to households:

Well, it still is depending on your heating system. But when I was little we got coal. The truck would drive up and dump a huge pile of coal in front of the house and then one had to shovel it in the coal cellar through these kinds of flap windows:
