The neighbourhood of Mannheim were this lake can be found is called “Vogelstang”, literally “bird bar” or possibly “bird pole”. This pole however, did not feature any birds when I was passing by.

Modern arcade

This arcade is on the “upper lake” in Böblingen. The area around two lakes in the middle of town was revamped for the “Landesgartenschau” in the late 1990, a horticultural show. When a town is chosen to host the show it is usually done in such a way that the areal can be kept and benefit the inhabitants for years to come. I couldn’t find an explanation for this very tall and very barren – and indeed very vertical – arcade on the lakeside. It provides shade and makes for very nice reflections, though.
For One Word Sunday: vertical.

Hous… Lake cleaning
The water in our local, man-made lake is filtered with these contraptions called “pelicans”. They are cleaning the water. Cleaning them is necessary on a regular basis, even in the cold season.
This is for One Word Sunday. More clean photos can be found here.
