We’ve just finished with the carnival parades but the next parade is just around the corner here in the Southwest of Germany: In March there is the “Sommertagszug” (summer day’s parade) in our town and other towns in the vicinity, it is very much a local event. And of course, no parade without a marching band.

Although they look more like a strolling band.
Symbolic burning of winter, each year on Laetare Sunday, the fourth Sunday in Lent, next week. Six Word Sunday
In 2018 the European Union enacted the GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) which governs the use of personal data. For photographers things changed. Contrary to what is happening on social media the photographing of people has become quite difficult as the permission of any individual has to be obtained (preferably in writing) – BEFORE taking the photo. There are exceptions, such as pictures where people just happen to be included in the photograph but it is not allowed to single out individuals. So photos like this (taken a few years back):
are not really possible anymore. In future I will have to take photos like this (taken at the same event a few years later) to be on the safe side:

Crocus is usually the first colour in spring – lilac and yellow.

And then it’s WoW!

Appreciated not only by us humans.

LET ME GET AT IT NOW!!!
And I have bonus photo from yesterday when winter was officially burned, once again:

A follow up to yesterday’s snow covered tops, I give you a snowman and his inevitable demise. This year the traditional burning of a snowman to drive away winter has been cancelled due to you know what.
A snowman needs to wear a top hat. It’s a given.
This is my fifth top square for Becky’s April Square Challenge.

At our town’s spring festival (still a long way off) children dress up as garden gnomes, flowers, gardeners to welcome spring.
For the very small children it is often too far to walk so they are pulled in a wagon.

Some find even that too tiring.
And for the grown-up bikes there is this – the sticker (probably the name of a motorcycle club) is a word pun: abwegig can mean “off the beaten track” but normally it is used to mean “absurd”
