Columbus in Europe

ESA’s Spacelab, called Columbus, was the European Space Agency’s contribution to the International Space Station ISS. A 1:1 model can be seen in the Technikmuseum in Speyer in Germany.

More than just Prickly

This jet fighter plane was photographed at the Technikmuseum in Speyer. I think it is a Russian MIG but I neglected to photograph the board with the name and specifications. If somebody knows better please let me know in the comments.

Anyhow, it has an impressive spike.

The First Car

This is the Benz-Haus, the house where Carl Benz lived in Ladenburg once his company had become successful. He built was is considered the first workable automobile in 1886.

From this came the Mercedes Benz car factory which is known worldwide by the three pointed star.

This one adorns a model from the 1930ies standing in the Technik Museum Speyer, about 30 km from Carl Benz’ villa.

Long and Lanky

I saw this silver sculpture in front of a building which is part of the Technical Museum in Speyer. Size and form, yet not the stance nor the material, reminded me of a sculpture I’d seen in Munich.
