I don’t know why anthurium are called flamingo flowers (or lace leaf for that matter). To me this particular one looks more like a butterfly or possibly an dancer with a swirling skirt – from every perspective.

Four crowns

Yesterday’s tower made me think of other towers I’ve taken pictures of.

Top left: Water tower of Ladenburg (interesting story: the town sold it 30 years ago for 1 DM to an investor, consequently blocked all of his ideas to develop and use the site, and has recently bought it back for 35,000 Euros and is now spending around 500,000 Euros to renovate the tower as it has become a hazard).

Top right: The Kronenhochhaus in Frankfurt-Westend.

Bottom left: Part of the medieval town wall fortifications of Michelstadt im Odenwald.

Walking towards the three

And this time I’ll add the portrait version of the same shot because it illustrates what a difference in perspective the format of a picture makes.

Whereas the square shot directs the viewer to the actual view beyond those narrow walls, the portrait version emphasises the path. At least, that’s how I see it.

A toothy perspective

And while I was remembering Munich yesterday, here is the statue of Bavaria – the lady and her lion who each year (except for this one) overlook the Oktoberfest at the Theresienwiese.
