Nyota Uhura and James T. Kirk kissed on television (it wasn’t the first interracial kiss on US American television but it is often quoted as such – it probably was the most publicised one).

Nyota Uhuru was a member of the original Star Trek series. The crew was multicultural and she was one of the first black leading women on American television. As the communication officer of the Enterprise she was a junior compared to the triumvirate Kirk, Spock and McCoy, nevertheless she became a role model for many black girls (her skimpy uniform skirts not withstanding).
