The Sea of Stones in the Lautertal is a magnificent natural wonder of the Odenwald. There is geological explanation and a mythical one about two giants hurtling stones at each other.
And just to make sure that you do not think I am showing you close-ups of some pebbles, let me add something for scale:
It was men with hats last week and it’s a different kind of head gear this time.

The stone pattern is on a Roman pillar found in a villa rustica dating back to the Romans in the Odenwald.

This is one of those accidents that turned out well. I was photographing a blackbird taking a bath and then it flew away. The deserted stone well (sic!) looked as if it contained not water but liquid gold.

Another batch of oddballs for Cee’s Odd Ball Challenge. The pink bulldog stood in front of an interior decorator’s room, the undefinable breed is part of an art installation in Seeheim-Jugenheim, Hesse, Germany.
