Just make sure it doesn’t swallow you up!



This “machine”, if you want to call it that, stands on a local playground. You operate the water propeller at the bottom with a crank and the water begins to swirl – creating a vortex.




A vortex can be a dangerous thing out in nature. On a playground it can be created and observed in a controlled environement.

At the playground where we sometimes go with our grandson there are a few installations about cool effects. One is a kind of whirligig where one can turn a handle to create a vortex in the glass cylinder.
