We had this “almost but not quite yet” spring weather. When it’s not drizzling there is a thin cloud cover and we can barely feel the blue behind it. But it’s there, just a hint.

This tower, called “Blauer Hut” (blue hat) because we think it used to have a slate roof, was part of the town wall encircling Weinheim.
In medieval times, the town of Weinheim was surrounded by a town wall with four towers. Three of these towers remain today.
Bonus Fact: No witches were ever held in the Witches’ Tower. It was never used as a prison.
For this post, I chose a different word of the five on offer.

Half a circle peeping over a roof – the full circle sports a star. But it is not a car roof.

A roof peeping through an arch or through a half circle.

Through lots of arches in the castle gardens of Schloss Neckarhausen.

… this tower used to have. It was originally made of blueish slate and the name of this remnant of the town wall is still today Blauer Hut, “blue hat”.

Kirchheimbolanden, a town in the Rhineland-Palatinate in Germany, has restored their town wall dating back to the 12th and 13th century. It has a walkway (as it did when it was built), with an open construction looking over the old part of the town, and loop-holes facing outwardly.
