White Towers in Germany

Staffelsbergturm near Dörrenbach in the Rhineland Palatium.

Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge: White

Four crowns

Yesterday’s tower made me think of other towers I’ve taken pictures of.

Top left: Water tower of Ladenburg (interesting story: the town sold it 30 years ago for 1 DM to an investor, consequently blocked all of his ideas to develop and use the site, and has recently bought it back for 35,000 Euros and is now spending around 500,000 Euros to renovate the tower as it has become a hazard).

Top right: The Kronenhochhaus in Frankfurt-Westend.

Bottom left: Part of the medieval town wall fortifications of Michelstadt im Odenwald.

Bottom right: The Heiligenbergturm in Heidelberg,

Never stop looking up

2011 upwards g

It’s a question of perspective: the stork looks down and I look up to him.

And it even looks down on tall towers, water towers, and

church spires, and

artisans’ trees.

Or real trees.

Looking up, it’s more than one bird,

yet the single one stands out

even as it settles down.

All wrapped up

I took a considerable detour to photograph this 500-year-old tower only to be confronted with this:

It wasn’t the first time I had similar luck.
