Feathers and Downs

A feather with a downy and a smooth part.

Guinea fowl with constrasting feathers.

Smooth egg and rough leaves.

Looking Up

My worst “looking up” moment with birds came many years ago when I saw 15 louries in the trees in our garden and I looked up and kept looking up and didn’t see where I was going and I fell in the pool, scraping my thigh which left me with a bruise that took literally years to go away. But it hasn’t cured me from looking up.

I’m a fan of cormorants

I know that cormorants can be become pests if they are too numerous and fishers don’t like them because they can decimate fish numbers quite rapidly. This is a lonely cormorant though, which I have never seen in company – if it is the same one. These photos were taken a year apart.
