Casting a Long Shadow
The tv tower in Mannheim casts its long shadow over the two arms of the river Neckar. I’ve been where the shadow crosses the Neckar island on a bike tour with my sister.
2000 Years of History
This is the monument built in 1988 to celebrate the 2000th anniversary of Strasbourg.
He Was Waiting for the Ferry
While waiting myself for the ferry across the river Neckar in Ladenburg I watched this young grey heron walking up and down the bank, intently watching the ferry on the other side of the river, unperturbed by the cars and people waiting with him. He flew off before the ferry landed, though.
Green Pond
There were no ducks despite the duckweed. These are the residents at present:
The Off-season Beach
The swimming season is over and the local beaches are empty – ready for the winter guests: the local duck and goose population.
After the Rain
When we finally had rains after the long drought in summer we also had puddles again.
