Studies in grey

For the Cosmic Photo Challenge: 50 shades of grey I tried to pick photos which were naturally (almost) monochrome, either because of the subject or because of the quality of the prevailing light.

Top hat

A follow up to yesterday’s snow covered tops, I give you a snowman and his inevitable demise. This year the traditional burning of a snowman to drive away winter has been cancelled due to you know what.

A snowman needs to wear a top hat.  It’s a given.

This is my fifth top square for Becky’s April Square Challenge.

And for the cute factor: this is from last year when we thought we had a big cat but now we know he was only a kitten.

Winter windows

Once upon a time when we still had winters and we still lived directly under the roof we would wake up one morning and we almost couldn’t see the sky anymore.

Once we removed some of the snow we could peek out.

Outside it looked like this:

Which meant other windows had to be taken care of.

reminds us that nature can do monochrome on its own.

For Cee’s Black & White Photo Challenge: nature.  More natural, or possibly naturalistic, or possibly non of the above, photos can be found here.

Wishful thinking

32 paths a (640x480)

Snow was last year.  I wish we had some more real cold winter weather like we used to have.

But even after miserable winters, spring will come again.  Even in black and white I can “see” the verdant meadows and the colourful flowers.
