Beautiful . . . a day and event we hardly notice in England these days apart from the taking down of all the Christmas decorations

It’s not a public holiday in all German states, only in three. Which usually means that if you live in a border region (like we do) it’s crazy shopping time because on the one side in Baden-Württemberg schools are closed and most people have a day off and only 5kms away it’s business as usual and the shops are open.
