    1. No, they are tiny (about 1cm at the most) and they are ermine moths. They are not dangerous at all, not even to the trees (as I’ve read). I’ve had another two posts with these little buggers as I had never come upon them before (but now, watching out for them, I see more trees on my walks who have these nets around them, although I haven’t seen live caterpillars again).

    1. According to the internet a group of caterpillars is called “an army” – but I wonder if that is really the right word for these guys crawling all over each other “a rabble” wouldn’t be better suited (a rabble can be used as a collective noun for insects in general). Or, if I ignore the species and only go for looks, they could be simply called “a bunch” as in “a bunch of worms”. 😀
