
This is the old bridge in Heidelberg leading over the river Neckar last week. Not completely deserted as the lock down in Germany has been lifted to some degree, was never as strict as in many other countries.

This is what it looks like in normal times, bustling with people at any given time.

Heidelberg has always been a barometer for tourists. When I was young, it was swarming with US Americans. Then came the Japanese. Now it is the Chinese who come in buses and more buses. I don’t know if I missed the Russian invasion or if they never came. And at the moment it is fairly quiet but it is picking up again (German daytrippers, many of them).
