Oh no, not at all. We had a hit song in Germany, around 1962 which went “Adelheid schenk mir einen Gartenzwerg” (give me a garden gnome for a present) and a photo myself of around this time, being held up by my dad, myself cluting a large garden gnome which had been presented to my father.
