This little wood mouse was too early out of its nest, I think, but probably also too late in the year to be born. It was sitting on the side of a path, squeaking loudly but not running away. There was no adult close by, at least not one we could see. We pushed him gently with a stick into the leaves on the side and told it to be quiet.

So cute 🙂

It was. And I was very distraught leaving it. But taking it home would not have been an option. 😥

Not at all. Life must do what life must do although if the opportunity to be a saviour often presents itself and must be taken if possible. We have wildlife carers networks here so a phone call can get someone to come and take whatever is found to be recovered and rehabilitated before release back to the wild

Still, I don’t think that this woodmouse would have had a better chance of survival either way.

Let’s hope things turned out well.
Apart from the potential sad ending, this was a great take on early, Elke
