And is it something for eggs?

Yes, it’s an egg timer that you put in the water with the eggs. It starts playing songs that indicate when the egg is soft or hard boiled etc.

Well that is a novel idea! How accurate is it?

Very. It’s our second one (the first one lasted about 3 years or so, unfortunately the battery can’t be replaced). It has three melodies and each melody plays 3 times so you end up with perfectly timed egg each time, no matter if you cook one or 10. Unfortunately, the Elvis songs aren’t very good, the last egg’s music was better (Smoke on the water for runny eggs, I was made for loving your for medium, and The Final Coundown for hard boiled eggs. But it is really the sound I am complaining about.

Smoke on the water? That is awesome that the egg plays that.

Well — not the original just like a music box (the one with a crank). But still! You’re right.
