Half-timbered buildings used to be dark wood and whitewash but these days they come in all colours. I also like the shingles on houses in the central Odenwald.
Dark wood and whitewash (well, grey brown discoloured) makes me think of Quedlinburg in the early ‘90s, when I returned a decade later it was much more colourful!
