It has been ever since Hollywood churned out Halloween movies. But it is very contentious. Many people maintain that it is not part of German culture (which is only partly true because we used to “Hexennacht” on the night of 30 April with a lot of mischief going on) and 1 November is a public holiday in the predominantly catholic regions (called All Hallows = Allerheiligen).
Right. This was one of the aspects I liked living in Saudi Arabia. Because all those western customs were officially forbidden we had to be much more creative and do ourselves (not being allowed to have a job obviously helped in giving us women the time to do that).
Is Hallowe’en even A Thing in Germany? You seem to be giving it the full treatment!

It’s rather the same here. But it does seem to get more and more commercial every year. What’s wrong with a home made ghoul costume?
