Germans love to organise themselves in clubs, called “Verein”. This particular one is dedicated to uphold the traditions of Weinheim. The somewhat long and cumbersome name stems from the fact that it is an amalgamation of two clubs, none of which wanted to give up their traditional name.

They help organise the local town festival (pre-Covid numbers were always above 50,000 attendees spread over three days), they appear in traditional garb and some even dance a bit on appropriate occasions, they own an old half-timbered house in the old part of town which is used and rented out for parties etc. and generally try to keep up the local dialect (with publications and theatre plays etc.).
