Snuggle Up!

Fandango’s prompt for today – “blanket” – came at the right time. My students must think that I am really cold (my fetish for teaching at the open window notwithstanding) but I received four (!) blankets from them for Christmas. I’ve come to the conclusion that blankets are the Afghan equivalent of socks in connection with presents. Actually not so far fetch as one might think because amongst South Africans it is not uncommon either to give blankets as presents.

Not all blankets are for keeping warm, some are little more than fashion statements (and possibly keeping off the flies).

But at this time of the year, the horses appreciate the extra cover.

The warm woolly blankets counteracting the white blanket Mother Nature has spread over things.

No cheer without blankets in cold weather!

But this is my favourite blanket, to be used all year round, made of old t-shirts – my blanket of memories.
