If you follow this signpost you end up in the Kellerwald of Forchheim. It is where the for hundreds of years the beer brewers of Forchheim in Franken have stored their beer to keep it fresh (and cool): The forest is on a hill and there are 23 cellars dug into the hill, very similar to what I imagine hobbit holes to be like. Together they form what is probably the largest, certainly the most charming beer garden in the world.

😁 Imagine: I was in a brewery’s pub this weekend and I had the sampler: one glass of wheat beer, one glass of their traditional pale lager, and one glass of this month’s speciality brew. Each one a glorious 0.1 litre!
