    1. There were a lot of pig farmers and they had to sell their pigs on the other side of the river?

However, there is a joke about this name. “furt” can also be understood as “away”, so it could be read as “the pig is away”. Then there is the town of Mannheim, which could be read as “the man (is) home”. I’ve been told that a woman living close to a station signalled her lover with “Train to Mannheim / Train to Schweinfurt” whether the coast was clear – or no.

Re: the website – It must have been written by someone living in the southwest as I can reach every one of these towns (except for Essen) within within a day’s cycling. There are spelling errors but … who is counting. And then think of Bavaria: there is Kissing and Petting, rather far apart. Once you are in Kissing it’s only a little way (but across a border!) and you are in F… (the town has recently changed their name from Fc..cking to F…gging because they were sick and tired of people stealing their town sign. Once you’re there it takes an 8 hour drive back and in Berlin you will find a suburb called Wedding. Non romantically inclined people stay in a Garmisch suburb, just called W…, a rather solitary occupation.🤣🤣
