“You can find magic wherever you look. Sit back and relax, all you need is a book.”
Dr. Seuss
I always enjoyed children’s books. Not just Dr. Seuss but Erich Kästner, Maurice Sendak, Hans Fischer, Eric Carlé, and of course, Julia Donaldson and Alex Scheffler who wrote and illustrated The Gruffalo.

Oh yes! Any excuse to read children’s books, particularly picture books, works for me.

The Gruffalo. I vaguely remember the book, and I love the statue. I love children’s books. I agree with Margaret about picture books. Most recently I loved The Day the Crayons Quit. I also loved Click, Clack Moo, Cows that Type. Of course, Dr. Seuss. I’m sure I read every book published. Have a great week, Elke.

One of the major German children’s book publisher is here in our town, and they’ve also published the Gruffalo and other books by the same illustrator (not only the ones where he cooperated with Julia Donaldson). Hence, the town decided to create the Gruffalo path with all the major characters as sculptures. The Gruffalo itself was carved out of a very old tree which was hit by lighning and the tree now lives on…

Very artistically lives on, I might add. If I were a tree, I’d make a good Gruffalo. 🙂
