My Day-to-day Relationship

Since I’ve bought Wynora about three and a half years ago we’ve done well over 7000 km together. Our car feels rather neglected and I rarely use it around town. I drive with Wynora even in winter unless is raining hard or the roads are slick. We definitely have an everyday if somewhat mundane relationship.

      1. I don’t mind being called a cheater. At my age, I’m allowed to cheat – particularly if the alternative would be to stay at home 😄
On a more serious note: I regret not buying an e-bike earlier. I get around in a much larger area than I ever did. I try routes with hills in them which I would have never attempted before. At the same time I challenge myself much more than I ever did because I know I will always get home even if my stamina runs out my bike will get me that extra push me. On good days, I ride without the motor help. On bad days, I still ride, slow and with help but I ride.

      2. You’re not a cheater. There is method in my husband’s madness. He often puts the bike in the car, and if we go somewhere that’s not really walkable there and back and there is no bus (there’s rarely a bus), he will ride back. We couldn’t heave an electric bike into the car.

      3. That’s the one disadvantage of e-bikes for me. They are not small and not light. Sometimes it’s hard to take them in the train (I don’t even try the car).

  1. great self-portrait!
I too love cycling but during covid other cyclists became far too aggressive so I stopped riding, they killed the joy for me. Have just decided that I need to buy a ‘folding’ bike so I can toss it into my lil car and go cycling in more remote spots … I miss my two wheels of freedom 🙂

    1. Covid brought many people on bikes (mostly e-bike). I hear about aggressive cyclists but in our area I haven’t met them – mostly car motorists complained. However, when in riding in town I have to watch out for cars. The overwhelming majority are okay but it only takes one to take you out when you’re on a bike. — Folding bikes have become much better these days, so go for it!

      1. here the cyclists stick to the footpath, making walking most dangerous … hence I moved to the beach but with our summer warming up I keep meeting deadly snakes! So I have to decide which is less dangerous angro cyclists or deadly snakes …
