From distance most things do indeed look placid and peaceful.

If you are thinking of the Bette Midler song from the title – I was, too. An incredibly popular song which personally I detest with a vengeance. I find it incredibly cynical and would take great offence at this portrayal of a (Christian) god – one who watches from the distance and revels in his pretty and peaceful creation which is neither peaceful nor are there any guns, bombs and diseases. And he keeps watching, patting himself on the shoulder and not doing anything – if I believed in his existence.

Great photo and well said about the mythical being

A wonderful view, and something we should all be grateful to have the so many do not.
Great picture, great words, Elke

I love the view, but you know me and mountains. 🙂 I don’t know the song but as a Christian, I certainly don’t believe in that sort of God. I won’t be looking that one up.

That’s the irony. Many people comment on it and love “as Christians” which makes no sense to me.
