Where the Chalk Leads Us

We call it chalk talk but more often than not our trails are marked with flour (cheap, readily available, and eco friendly). Since the Hash House Harriers are an international group and we often have visitors from other kennels (i.e. groups of runners) we usually start with explaining the marks used to everybody. It keeps the confusion down to acceptable levels.

PS: This was a fest hash, hence no running gear. But even if the run/walk ends at a local fest there is trail to be done before we get there.

Would you know what the signs mean or would you be confused and bedazzled?

Hint: Unless you are one of the front running bastards you can always follow where others have gone before.

      1. Fair enough. I like it because the group usually splits up in various little groups and one can flit from one to the next, by design (because I want to speak to somebody else) or because I start lagging.

    1. Close. A circle is a check, i.e. you have to check out trail within 369° (sic! – yes, we have juvenile minds). From there you have to find 3 consecutive marks to be on the correct trail. If not, you return to the circle and check out another direction. Now the boob check (yes, that’s it’s name) is for female hashers only. However, if said female hashers are too lazy to check they may choose the option of flashing their boobs and then their male counterparts have to check. Since these days we often have stronger female runners I haven’t seen naked boobs on trail in a long while.
