I’m not a hypocrite either. I like spiders. This particular tarantula liked me and clung to me with her tiny claws. Apparently because it liked my body heat.
For some spiders you do not need a macro lens.

First contact. Reminds one of the famous Michelangelo painting, doesn’t it?
And last, definitely not least, here is my favourite spider:

I find them fascinating. That zoropsis spinimana, the spider on the yellow background, had moved into our bedroom. It is a relative newcomer to Germany and some caring soul has christened it “Nosferatu spider”, and now everybody is afraid of it. It can bite, normally doesn’t bite humans, though, and if it does it’s not worse than a wasp bite. It took me a while to convince my husband to leave it high up in the corner and I guess there were not enough flies in our house so after a short while it moved out by itself.

Wow, amazing spidery close-ups, Elke 👏 I’m so jealous that you got to hold a tarantula; that must have been amazing 🤩

I am definitely not a fan of spiders, especially dock spiders (they’re huge) and black widow spiders (they’ve made their way north in the last few years.
