St Florian is of course, the patron saint of fire fighters. He is often depicted in murals on houses but that’s the only tiled mural of him I’ve found.
This bakery doesn’t exist anymore but the tiled mural still tells of former times.

Oooh, I didn’t know firefighters have a patron saint. They certainly need one.

The St Florian image is well entrenched here. There is a doggerel that almost everybody knows: “Heiliger St. Florian, verschon mein Haus, zünd andre an”. – St Florian, the holy, spare my house, light up other, do it slowly. (sorry, can’t make it rhyme, not really)
