At least according to the name. Periwinkle is called “Immergrün” (evergreen) in German. Even though some varieties actually loose their leaves in winter.

While looking up the name I found out that the name periwinkle has nothing to do with with the plant peering out of dark nooks (some confusion on my part: Winkel in German means nook or recess) but is a bastardisation of the Latin name: vinca pervinca, from pervincire from fashioning wreaths. Cute.

Periwinkles were planted in a garden by one of the girls. I am sure that garden no longer exists but there are Periwinkles scatted throughout other garden borders mainly.
They keep popping up
