350 Years of Interesting

I passed our local townhall earlier today. Since we live only a couple of hundred meters down the road from it, I have more than one photo of the building.

It was built around 1680 (an earlier town hall at the same location burnt down) and altered in 1808.

It was extensively renovated in 2015. And it looks really good in winter.

An unusual feature is the drive through passage, seen from both sides. I drive through that alleyway fairly often, on my bike or with my car. You just hope there is nobody coming towards you (it’s not a one way) but drivers are generally courteous and everybody drives slowly.

It really is a beautiful building in the centre of our village. It’s not the townhall anymore since the village of Lützelsachsen became part of the larger town of Weinheim in the 70s of the last century. It still serves as an administrative building for the inhabitants.
