Rally Against Extremism

Since the end of last year there are regular rallies all over Germany after minutes of a meeting of the rightwing radical party AFD was leaked to the press and it became even more apparent than before how disgusting their plans for Germany are. The party is unfortunately gaining momentum but the established political parties are arguing over how to deal with this surge of rightwing, populist and now openly fascist party. I’ve been to a few of the rallies against rightwing extremism and racism but I don’t take pictures.

“I’m not afraid of the return of fascists in the guise of fascists but of the return of fascists in the guise of democrats.”

This quote by Theodor W. Adorno was appropriate earlier when many politicians argued that the AFD (Alternative for Germany) was to the right of the political spectrum but still a democratic party. I don’t think this fiction can still be upheld today.

    1. A lot of people are photographing or filming with their cell phones but I find it somehow intrusive. Also: I want to take part not observe. When I have my camera I usually feel removed from whatever is happening, I’m an onlooker.
