Five in March

OVERLOOKING – Standing at the Riedburg near Edenkoben overlooking the Upper Rhine Valley to the East and the hills of the Odenwald in the distance.

I was somewhat conflicted whether to show the area I was overlooking or whether to show the old castle which is doing the overlooking. In any case, who doesn’t think of the Overlook, the hotel in the Shining when hearing that word?

ROSY – The Red Mosque (die rote Moschee) in the Schwetzingen Palace Gardens.

The Red Mosque was built at the height of the fascination of Europeans with oriental culture (in the last years of the 18th century). It was never meant as a house of worship.

SEEDY – Grass seeds waiting to be distributed in the fields.

Gone to seed means is so allegorical yet in the end it has such a different meaning whether it is applied literally or metaphorically.

PRECOCIAL – literally, fleeing from the nest.

And what else can a little moorhe do but be out and about on these feet?

FLOATING – Bouyant on the surface of the water.

Snorkelling is floating and if you’re clever you wear a shirt.
