Behind Every Successful Penguin

there are at least three minions.

And behind this mouse is the Collini Center, a landmark building in Mannheim.

Crows don’t really like to take a backseat.

The black bird of the family.

    1. The German publisher of the Gruffalo books (the illustrator is German) is in our town. A few years back an old, majestic tree had to be felled and a local wood sculptor made it into a the Gruffalo. From this grew the “Grüffelo Pfad”, a walk way through the woods leading up to the old castle ruin with all the characters of the book. For the inauguration Axel Scheffler came and read from the Gruffalo and his then newest collaboration with Julia Donaldson to about 200 kids and parents (and grandparents). The mouse has been subject to several vandalism attacks (the ears seem to attract hooligans but has each time been repaired and at one occasion completely replaced).

      1. Oh, her books are very popular here as well. The translation is ok (I’ve translated the Gruffelo into the local dialect, hence I have really studied the original and the translations into German are ok, in my opinion, not great).
