Protect Your Local Toads!

The pond in the local park is the place to be for sex in early spring for the parents, and growing up in spring for the little ones. Nevertheless, they have to be protected. In early spring they troop to the pond regardless of any hazards like ditches, and cars, and people. And their offspring is not any better a few months later. In the photo you can see the green plastic barrier preventing the young’uns to leave. They are collected regularly and released away from harm. You find such barriers in many parts in Germany often along roads.
