by a spire standing in front of it.
After weeks of rain or at least cloudy skies we are having gorgeous skies at the moment. I was sitting in the courtyard of the local castle (now our townhall) and looking up was a pure delight – but not unhindered.

The view might be hindered, but what I can see is the sheer beauty of the bygone era. And that tree just adds a drop of brightness.

I was – kind of – kidding. I grew up in the shadow of this church (although I wasn’t catholic then and are an atheist now). It is very difficult though to judge any building objectively when one has grown up with it. The actual building is too much mingled with all sorts of memories.

I cannot more agree with you. Buildings where you grow up or even spend time while growing up, do become part and parcel of you. Sometimes they become home, may a home away from home.
